Allen & Heath and Chauvet enhance The Vine’s 10th anniversary concert

Zimbabwe:

Hailing from Harare, Zimbabwe, gospel choir The Vine recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with a concert featuring Allen & Heath digital mixing consoles and Chauvet Professional lighting. Hosted at The Rainbow Hotel & Conference Centre, the sold-out show featured a 100-piece orchestra from Johannesburg, a 30-piece brass section, a 30-member choir and 30 children from the Adventist Pathfinders. They were joined by Minister Everton Mlalazi, Annatoria, Vashawn Mitchell, Jekalyn Carr and many other acts on the night.

Events Evolution and its AV partners deployed the audio and lighting solution, provided by Audiosure. For audio, the system incorporated Allen & Heath’s dLive S5000 alongside CDM64 at FOH. The production team elected to stick with the dLive platform to run the monitors, this time the dLive C3500 paired up with the CDM64. Both the S5000 and the C3500 were connected via Dante cards.

The Chauvet Professional lighting rig comprised 12 Maverick MK2 Spots, three Rogue R2 Washs, six Rogue R1 Beams and eight Rogue R2 Spots. The solution also included 24 Chauvet DJ EVE E-100Zs, 12 Chauvet DJ EVE F-50Zs and 40 CHAUVET DJ Intimidator Hybrids as well as 113 Chauvet DJ SlimPar T12 USBs and 18 Chauvet DJ SlimPar Tri12 IRCs.

The SlimPars were positioned stage left, right, back and some were put aside for room ambience at the back of the auditorium. Mounted on the overhead truss were 12 Maverick MK2 Spots as main stage spots and to work together with the Intimidator Hybrids as the beam fixtures with 13 positioned on the truss, four at the back of the stage, six on the stage floor and 12 to the left and right of the back balcony. The main house lighting fixtures were EVE E-100Zs working on backing vocals, the EVE F-50Zs to light the choir and Rogue R2 Washs and spots to illuminate the 100-piece orchestra and band.

“It’s always a privilege to be part of this big concert celebration each year with The Vine,” said lighting designer and head of technical, Blessing Bero. “This year we had a huge responsibility to design and deliver a memorable experience to the believers who attended. This was made possible and easy with great service from the Chauvet fixtures and networking which always makes things easier as they consistently work well – even after long hours of use in programming they always deliver.”
