Eliminating crosstalk
Midas has released its DL8 stagebox which provides eight of the manufacturer’s PRO microphone preamplifiers with switchable +48V phantom power, eight electronically balanced, low-impedance line levels, an integrated ULTRANET distribution hub for connecting to Behringer P16-M personal monitor mixers or Turbosound speaker systems and dual AES50 SuperMAC ports for cascading additional stageboxes.
ULTRANET transmits up to 16 independent channels of 24-bit digital audio and control data via a single Cat5 cable between compatible digital devices, including mixers, I/O stageboxes, powered loudspeakers and personal monitoring systems. Compared to traditional analogue methods, audio signals are reportedly impervious to radio frequency interference, signal crosstalk is eliminated and ease of setup is said to result in significant time saved during installation.
In other news, the manufacturer launched its HUB4 PRO personal 96kHz monitoring system hub, which follows on from the release of its predecessor, the HUB4. The HUB4 PRO is said to provide a more streamlined and customisable monitoring experience, with front panel buttons and 16 balanced analogue outputs for sending 4x2 personal stereo mixes to IEM transmitters in the side rack and enabling connection to the DL8 stagebox, which can be connected and powered from ports 1–4. This latest addition allows for PoE remote powering of up to four DP48 personal mixers and includes a StageConnect master output which supports phantom power for connecting other StageConnect devices.
