John Jennings named Royer Labs president
Royer Labs has announced that John Jennings, co-founder and 26-year VP of sales and marketing, will now assume the role of president. The appointment follows the announcement of president and co-founder Rick Perotta’s retirement. Furthermore, industry veteran Dave Bryce will assume Jennings’ former role of VP of sales and marketing.
The company said that Jennings’ long history with the company made him a natural fit for the role of president. He established and maintained Royer Labs’ dealer and distribution network and has been responsible for directing its overall marketing and branding strategies since its inception. Notably, during Royer’s early days, he attended various recording sessions, introducing producers, engineers and artists to Royer ribbon microphones and photographing them in action. The company’s designs resulted in Royer Labs receiving a Technical Grammy in 2013. As president, Jennings said that he plans to release new microphone products, focusing on a high-quality and hand-built approach.
Perrotta co-designed many of the manufacturer’s products alongside chief engineer David Royer. Perrotta created Royer’s overall production methodologies, he formulated the company’s original business structure and for 26 years he oversaw its day-to-day business operations. Royer noted that during his retirement, Perrotta will continue to lend his technical and design expertise.
“The last 26 years have been some of the most rewarding periods of my life,” commented Perrotta. “While I may not be in the office on a regular basis going forward, I will still be involved with the company and the wonderful people that constitute Royer Labs. As I pass the baton—or should I say microphone—to John Jennings, I have every confidence that the company will continue to thrive.”
Jennings remarked: “I’ve always been proud of what Royer Labs brings to the pro audio community. Becoming Royer’s president is an honour. I’ll miss having Rick here, but because we have been partners for so long, and our management team is so good, stepping into this position is an uncomplicated, natural progression. We have some unique new designs underway. The next few years at Royer are going to be an exciting time to hold down this seat.”
