AtlasIED celebrates 90-year milestone
AtlasIED is celebrating a milestone of 90 years in business. Established in 1934, the company provides commercial audio and communication technology solutions for applications ranging from transportation to houses of worship.
Building on prior owner, Loyd Ivey’s legacy, AtlasIED’s current owner, John Ivey noted that he is keen to remain steadfast in his approach to operating as a family-owned business. “We couldn’t be more proud of our AtlasIED family for reaching 90 years as a global leader in audio and communications technology,” he said. “Arriving at this milestone reinforces our commitment to never-ending growth and innovation, maintaining relevance and high-quality service to our customers.”
In 2011 the company acquired IED, combining both company’s sales, marketing, engineering and support teams to further expand its business. AtlasIED now focuses on application-based solutions for a wide range of installation and aesthetic options, including communications and audio platforms and a broad array of loudspeakers for commercial applications.
Founded in 1934 by Bob Reinhardt and Carl Blumenthal, AtlasIED became the first company to combine the horn shape of the megaphone with electro-acoustics to create outdoor PA loudspeakers. Reinhardt and Blumenthal both took a special interest in mechanical devices and tooling and began designing and metalworking after noticing a demand for microphone stands. Today, AtlasIED has full-time manufacturing facilities in Ennis, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona. The largest of these facilities is centrally located in Ennis and features metalworking, moulding machines, robotics and automation and houses the majority of the company’s inventory.
“It’s an honour to be able to look back at AtlasIED’s heralded legacy, knowing that there is so much more ahead of us,” concluded Ivey. “This year, we recognise our accomplishments that serve as a tribute to the people and technology who have made AtlasIED the global leader that it is today. To say we are proud is an understatement, we cannot wait to see what the next 90 years will bring.”
