Tascam takes on commercial spaces
As part of its new Compact Commercial Series, Tascam has released the MA-BT240 multifunctional mixing amplifier. Intended to cater for sound distribution, presentations and announcements in commercial environments, the product offers a feature suitable for retail stores, restaurants, cafés, offices and educational facilities. The MA-BT240 can be placed on a table or shelf and can be rack-mounted with a bracket. It delivers 240W high-impedance amplification for driving 70V or 100V loudspeaker arrays in distributed audio systems. It can also be utilised with 4Ω or 8Ω loudspeakers. Audio sources can be connected to a mic/line input with switchable connectors on the front and back via a stereo RCA line input and wirelessly via Bluetooth. And for environments where background music is playing, the system can lower and control the volume when an announcement is made, using the Ducker function. The MA-BT240 also comes with Bluetooth options.
Additionally, the Japanese brand has added a second-generation professional Blu-Ray player. The BD-MP1MKII is a 1U rack-mountable player that supports a wide range of media formats via Blu-ray, DVD and CD discs together with videos, still images and audio formats from USB memory devices and SD cards with a maximum capacity of 512 gigabytes (SDXC). A power-on play function enables playback automatically upon powering up. Combined with repeat playback, the audio/video content will start, loop and play continuously until the system power is turned off. The repeat function can be defined by chapter, title or A–B range.
Avoiding visual distractions during operation, the BD-MP1MKII displays a black screen on the monitor during startup and hides status messages. Outputs include XLR connectors and RCA connectors for stereo signals, a seven-channel output array for 7.1 surround sound systems and an HDMI output, for routing audio formats including Dolby Atmos and DTS-HD to an AV amplifier. A coaxial digital audio output is also available for Dolby Audio, DTS and other professional formats. Controlled remotely via LAN or RS-232C, accidental changes to settings or unauthorised use can be prevented by locking the front panel and tray.
Finally, Tascam has added to its Sonicview recording mixer range with the Sonicview 16XP and 24XP. Both models come with a preinstalled IF-MTR32 integrated multi-track recording card (US market only as “XP” model), enabling users to capture 32 channels directly to an SDXC card. In regions other than the US, the optional IF-MTR32 can easily be installed into one of the two open expansion slots to enable 32-channel multi-track recording. The SD recorder supports simultaneous 32-channel punch-in/punch-out, pre-record, auto-record and markers. The 16XP offers 16 physical input channels with 100mm motorised faders and the manufacturer’s Class 1 HDIA (High-Definition Instrumentation Architecture) microphone preamps, while the 24XP provides 24 physical input channels with 100mm motorised faders and the Class 1 HDIA microphone preamps. Internally, the architecture of the two models is the same, with 44 input channels (40 mono channels and two stereo channels), 22 flex output busses and the L-R main bus with 31-band graphic EQ.
