DiGiCo launches Quantum225 console as Klang announces new hardware controller
DiGiCo and Klang Technologies have staged a joint online launch to unveil both the Quantum225 console and the Klang:kontroller hardware controller for Klang immersive processors. Injecting some fun and generosity into proceedings, DiGiCo also announced that the three winners of its New Year New Hope competition would be awarded one of the first Quantum225s off the production line, KLANG:kontroller Serial Number 1, and a DiGiGrid MGB MADI to SoundGrid interface, respectively.
Designed to adapt to changing market requirements, the Quantum225 can be specified with the new DQ-Rack with integrated Dante for AV installation and the demands of an AoIP networking environment, or alternatively with the MQ-Rack for MADI connectivity to existing touring infrastructures. With the new addition to the range, Quantum Processing power and features are now available in a compact, robust worksurface.
“We’re very thankful we’ve managed to keep our R&D team busy and our product development on track during the last year,” commented DiGiCo marketing manager, Maria Fiorellino. “At the same time, we’re painfully aware the industry is going through a really tough time, so while we didn’t change the direction we’d set for ourselves, we did change the timing.
“Our new products, which are designed to be equally at home in both the live and install markets, were ready to go last year, but we knew it wasn’t the right time to launch them then. This year, with the vaccine being rolled out, we think there’s real hope that live events will come back in some form during 2021. We want to do what we can to help both our existing and future clients be ready for the recovery.”
The new Klang:technologies product, Klang:kontroller, was designed in response to requests for a standalone hardware controller that offers the same mixing functionality as the Klang:app, combined with a studio-grade Dante headphone amp. “This is the first hardware product designed specifically for musicians,” commented Klang founder and CMO, Pascal Dietrich. “The displays provide clear colour coding and channel names which makes handwritten and mostly outdated name tags, as well as dialling though all the channels to find the one you are looking for, obsolete.”
Klang also announced the launch of the 1U Klang:vokal immersive mixing processor, which allows up to 12 musicians to select up to 24 mono or stereo channels out of 64 Dante and MADI inputs. Finally, the three lucky winners of DiGiCo’s competition were revealed: Chris Heckmann (USA), Paul Janovskis (Australia) and Jennifer Werner (Germany), who will receive a DiGiCo Quantum225, KLANG:kontroller and DiGiGrid MGB interface, respectively.
“Having a competition, rather than a standard product launch, is our way of trying to give something back to the industry we love,” added Fiorellino. “We hope in some way it has injected a bit of the fun we all miss so much into the start of the year, and we’re looking forward to seeing what the winners do with their prizes.”
