Summit Church renovates with Fulcrum Acoustic
Summit Church in Durham, North Carolina, has enlisted the help of DP Design to provide design and integration of a new Fulcrum Acoustic audio system in its Blue Ridge campus. The HOW was finding it difficult to produce smooth and even coverage in the wide, fan-shaped sanctuary, plus a number of reflective surfaces were leading to speech intelligibility issues.
DP Design has installed an array of four DX1595 dual 15-inch coaxial loudspeakers above the leading edge of the stage. The broadband pattern control of the DX1595s provides direct sound to parishioners without splashing sound off of reflective surfaces. "I love the horsepower of the DXs," said DP Design’s Terry Rhodes. "Between their pattern control and fidelity, they are my favourite loudspeakers from Fulcrum Acoustic."
Three low-profile Sub218L subwoofers have been fitted under the existing stage, saving the need for costly modifications. The combination of the DX1595s and Sub218Ls provides the output, fidelity and impact required for the contemporary worship style.
Six of Fulcrum's RX599 5-inch coaxial loudspeakers have been installed on the front lip of the stage for front fill. The broad 90° conical pattern of the RX599 provides the necessary output and coverage for the first few rows of seats. The high output delivered within the compact enclosure at the lip of the stage keeps the sightlines clear for parishioners and delivers high-fidelity sound.
Four CX1295 compact coaxial loudspeakers have been flown as a delay ring to cover the back portion of the sanctuary and provide precise control while avoiding reflections. Powersoft amplifiers connected to the Dante network and a QSC Q-Sys Core 110f have also been installed.
