World:

For those Stanley Kubrick fans entering Kensington’s Design Museum on an early September evening, some of the exhibits may have looked out of place. Clockwork Orange was off the menu in a large section of the upmarket W8 London property as Allen & Heath hosted its international distributors and renowned mixing engineers for a special 50th anniversary party.

As Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took those first small steps for man on the moon back in 1969, founders Steve Batiste and Andy Bereza embarked on their own giant leap into the unknown, establishing Allen & Heath in the corner of a factory in swinging London. The exhibits shown within the Design Museum – including the analogue console used by Pink Floyd in Pompeii – marked 50 years of mixing innovation from the company that relocated to Cornwall in 1981.

‘It’s inspiring to take stock of all we’ve achieved together in the past 50 years, but looking at the new developments in the pipeline, I can safely say that the best is yet to come,’ commented MD Rob Clark.

The secret of Allen & Heath’s success? ‘Excitement,’ furthered Clark. ‘We’re excited by sharing in our customers’ ambitions, and by the technologies that will help to achieve them. That’s what keeps us striving to innovate and improve.’ Allen & Heath’s loyal gathering of APAC partners had made the long journey to London for the special occasion, including Simon Adams from Jansen Professional Audio together with Australian TAG teamsters Andy Crawford and Stephen Bray.

‘It’s become a cliché to talk about listening to your customers, but that direct connection with the people who have their hands on the faders is absolutely essential, and I think it shows in all that we do,’ added Clark. For Clark and Allen & Heath’s global family of supporters, discussions continued well into the night and on the long coach ride back to Cornwall afterwards, which will no doubt stimulate the next round of R&D innovations.

‘It’s taken us 24 hours on flights from Sydney here to London,’ remarked TAG’s Allen & Heath product manager, Andy Crawford. ‘This year, we’ve driven our Allen & Heath #Ampervan to indigenous communities in the Outback. As part of our TAG Cares promotion, we donated SQ and Qu mixers. It’s fair to say that we’d drive to the moon and back for Allen & Heath.’
