Blaze 990 produces a clear, smooth sound for stringed instruments, acoustic guitars, drums and electric amplifiers

The Blaze 990 from MXL Microphones is said to retain the ‘silky sweet high ends and solid lows and midrange’ of the manufacturer’s original 990 microphones. With a black metal exterior and red LED lights within the grill, the Blaze 990 gives users the ability to produce a clear, smooth sound for stringed instruments, acoustic guitars, drums and even electric amplifiers. It can also be used for live streaming purposes and is described by the manufacturer as a great solution for podcasters looking to take their sound quality to the next level.

It uses a wide frequency response to complement vocalists from any genre and incorporates a six-micron, gold-sputtered, large diaphragm with a 15mV/Pa sensitivity. It has a cardioid polar pattern and a frequency range of 30Hz to 20kHz, with a slight increase in the upper register around 8kHz. The Blaze 990 requires phantom power for operation and comes with an included shock-mount and hard-mount mic stand adapter.
