Having focused on the high-power end of the Delta and DNA amplifier ranges last year, XTA and MC2 have shifted focus to the other end of the spectrum with the release of the Delta 20 and DNA20. Weighting 5kg, the models are the companies’ first 1U amps and feature quad-channel designs aimed at applications where a mix of installation-friendly features and amazing sound quality are required.

A bespoke PFC supply delivers 350W per channel anywhere into any load down to 2Ω, and channels are bridgeable and linkable for ease-of-use. Also available is 100V/70V drive on a per-channel basis, and an auto-standby mode cuts idle power consumption by 50% with ‘almost instantaneous’ wake-up of less than 200ms.

In line with the other Delta non-DSP amplifiers from MC2 and the DNA amplifiers from XTA, both models can be fitted with a 96kHz quad-channel Dante interface to give them networked audio capabilities, which can be reverted to analogue via a rear-panel switch. For installation use, the amplifiers also feature GPIO control and monitoring and a backup system that allows two amplifiers to be interconnected for seamless fallover in a fault or power-loss situation.

In addition to the new ‘20’ amps, the two manufacturers have showcased their ‘features release’ of firmware for the Delta DSP and DPA amplifier ranges. This includes new GPI control of the most critical amp features – input and output gain adjustments via VCA-type controls, mutes (including a system mute), standby control and memory recall. GPI control connected to one amplifier can be relayed onto additional models if required, and GPO monitoring gives feedback of power and protection states.

Also included in the release is a fallback system for input source selection, allowing the user to select primary, secondary and tertiary input sources and switch between them automatically in the event of a loss of signal. This can be either Dante (external routing changes or loss of signal) or AES (loss of signal), and will return to the highest priority source if conditions return to normal. Improved Dante integration also includes the ability to reflect amplifier and channel naming (within AudioCore) to the Dante card, simplifying routing setup and assignment when using Dante Controller.

Finally, a bespoke, programmable, remote, eight-button wall panel – the DPanel-8 – has been introduced that can be programmed (by the user) to control gains, mutes, standby and recall memories on any Delta or DPA amplifiers, as well as working with other DP4 and 5 Series processors and DC1048. It is powered directly from a DPA or Delta DSP amplifier and uses the RS485 bus to ensure compatibility with all units.

Buttons can be programmed to work in groups for memory recall, and the LED backlight colour can be chosen per button, as well as the repeat time for gain adjustments, with selectable step-size and max/min ranges. Night-time backlighting and brightness are also adjustable, and additional commands can be controlled via IR remote.
