Loudness Toolkit updated
Dialogue LRA will allow users to simultaneously monitor multiple integrated measures
NUGEN Audio has added a new loudness parameter, Dialogue LRA, to its Loudness Toolkit. According to the manufacturer, the parameter will allow users to simultaneously monitor multiple integrated measures and help facilitate an efficient workflow when working with the recent loudness guidelines, such as the new Netflix best-practice document.
The Loudness Toolkit includes the VisLM loudness meter, ISL limiter and LM-Correct quick fix tool. Enhancements to the VisLM include improved compliance alert indicators and SAWA (LEQm) standardisation. ISL can now natively support track counts up to 7.1.2, while LM-Correct has been updated to handle 7.1.2 de-interleaved files offline and natively handle 7.1 and 7.1.2 tracks in the Avid and Adobe timelines. The upgrade also introduces support for native 7.1.2 audio processing and new loudness parameters for advanced loudness control and dialogue consistency. Loudness Toolkit 2.8 also includes the DynApt extension, a standard for all new customers, while existing customers can find upgrade options in their online account areas on the NUGEN Audio website.
In other news, the manufacturer has unveiled its Audio Management Batch processor extension (AMB) that adds enterprise functionality to its modular software. The extension expands the features required for larger businesses with automated networked systems and is said to help customers integrate the solution more deeply into automated production workflows. The technology includes numerous options for high-speed audio loudness measurement and correction, upmixing, dynamics control, decoding and file handling. The new enterprise functionality allows for full automation using scripts, as well as integration within a larger Media Asset Management (MAM) platform. The enterprise extension adds email support, queue completion notification, analysis failure, bad file and error state notifications, post-processing script execution, cross-platform command line support (OSX/Windows), Linux platform remote control, queue priority specification and processing thread state dashboard indicators.
AMB is said to accelerate workflows and reduce delivery times for a range of different tasks, with separate modules available for upmixing and loudness management. AMB includes threaded algorithm processing and multiple processing paths that are addressable for simultaneous parallel handling of files and queues. Example modules include extensions to repurpose content for LRA or to process audio within MXF, Dolby E or .mov files.
Finally, NUGEN has updated its SigMod utility toolbox plug-in to allow VST3 hosting of plug-ins in Pro Tools (AAX environment), Ableton (VST2 environment) and Logic (AU environment). Users can apply any plug-in in mid/side mode, add split L-R functionality or split frequencies and route audio anywhere within the DAW.
