Sonarworks SR is a new standard designed for speakers and headphones

Sonarworks has developed a new digital sound standard, which is included in a new update to its Reference 4 sound calibration software. Named Sonarworks SR, the new standard is designed for speakers and headphones to set the frequency response to replicate completely neutral speakers in a treated room.

The calibration of headphones is performed via a pre-measured profile in Sonarworks Lab, while speaker calibration is carried out using the Sonarworks measurement software.

Following the update to Reference 4, Sonarworks SR will be included in every Sonarworks software release. This, the manufacturer states, negates the need for users to check their mixes on different listening systems, dramatically improving workflow and production times.

‘Every room and every headphone invariably has the effect of colouring sound,’ said Martins Popelis, VP and co-founder of Sonarworks. ‘By establishing Sonarworks SR, we have an opportunity to align the entire audio industry on a common audio reference that works with unprecedented accuracy across different locations, devices and operators.’
