Industry Drivers: Meyer Sound

John and Helen Meyer join us in this edition of Industry Drivers. The husband and wife team that founded Meyer Sound discuss what inspired them to start the company and how they went about it, as well as how they divide responsibilities between them.

From a technology perspective, topics of conversation include the rationale behind the SB-1 parabolic sound beam, line arrays versus point source, powered loudspeakers, and why the company won’t look back to the days of analogue and records, but instead prefers to look forward and ‘get digital right’ with technology such as the Galileo Galaxy.

On the business side, they comment on how the LCS acquisition proved they were serious about digital, why Berkeley remains the company’s home, and the success of the Summer of Love tour.
